Mark Velasquez has extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal courts, as well as in administrative proceedings. Mr. Velasquez was the principal of his own law firm in San Diego prior to moving back to Sacramento which focused on employment, business, and aviation law.  Mr. Velasquez has practiced before numerous superior courts, bankruptcy court, juvenile dependency court, and administrative bodies.  Mr. Velasquez has represented business and individuals on matters ranging from wrongful discharge to fraudulent transfer of property.  Mr. Velasquez has represented  persons before the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board concerning denials of unemployment insurance, pilots and mechanics before the Federal Aviation Administration in administrative enforcement actions, and before the Department of Labor seeking relief under AIR21 for whistleblower retaliation.  Mr. Velasquez has represented individuals in DMV hearings, before the Department of Industrial Relations, DLSE concerning fines and orders for wage and order violations, and has represented a high school athlete before the California Interscholastic Federation Appeals Board reinstating her ability to play basketball at a new school.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Velasquez was a commercial airline pilot for American Eagle Airlines flying international routes throughout the Caribbean islands, and within the Southwest United States.  He was a Captain for AirNet Express flying express mail and hazardous materials, and a flight instructor in San Diego.  He has over 3,500 hours of flight time in a variety of aircraft ranging from single engine trainers to multiengine turboprop aircraft.

Mr. Velasquez received his law degree from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2006.  While at McGeorge, he was an ABA student member, a Student Ambassador, a Saint Hope high school mentor, on the Client Interviewing and Counseling Competition Team, and President of the Ski and Snowboard Club.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Rutgers University, Cook College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While at Rutgers University, Mr. Velasquez was an active member and officer of the Outdoors Club leading students on outdoor expeditions. Mr. Velasquez graduated from the Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and received an appointment to the Air Force Academy in 1991.

Mr. Velasquez is on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento County Bar Association, and is their Golf Committee Co-Chair.  Previously, Mr. Velasquez  was the San Diego County Bar Association’s Sports Committee Chair, and NLD Board Member.  Mr. Velasquez was the President and Vice President of Events for the Rutgers Club of San Diego, a chartered alumni group of Rutgers University.
